Favorite Quote: He had made mistakes in the past, bad calls, but fighting against tyranny, against brutality, would never be the wrong choice.

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR HOUSE OF SKY AND BREATH aND hOUSE OF FLAME AND SHADOW!

Story Synopsis: Immediately following the squeal-inducing end of House of Sky and Breath, Bryce picks up in the Night Court facing the friends from ACOTAR. While Bryce has jumped worlds and traveled to an unknown land, Ruhn, Hunt, and Baxian are being brutally tortured in the dungeons of the Asteri palace. While their new ally, The Hind, works to free them before they are executed, no one on Midgard knows where Bryce is. When Bryce finally returns from her travels, Hunt, Ruhn, and Baxian are safe in the Ocean Queen’s realm and Bryce reveals her valuable intel. All the while Ithan Holstrom has unwittingly been making things worse for his pack and mer-friend Tharion.

When they finally end up in the misty isle of Avallen, Bryce takes up the Fae mantle, devises a diabolical plan to rid Midgard of the Asteri permanently, and save the innocents of her planet using the information she’s gathered. The only unknown is her own future.

Why does this book beguile? House of Flame and Shadow is a Maas-terpiece. There was no lull in the action or character development for these lovely characters, and we were introduced to a few new characters as well. I absolutely adore the ACOTAR crossover, and while I don’t yet know the future of the Crescent City series, my prediction is there will definitely be more ACOTAR books in our future.

Rating: 5/5 - Loved it
