Favorite Quote: Because love, at its root, is hope. Hope for tomorrow. Hope for what could be. Hope that the someone you’ve entrusted your everything to will cradle and protect it. And hope? That shit is harder to kill than a dragon.
SPOILERS FOR FOURTH WING AHEAD!! TURN BACK IF YOU HAVE NOT READ FOURTH WING! Get it now- Link*: Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
Story Synopsis: After Violet nearly died when she defeated the venin who attacked them at Resson during War Games, Xaden whisked her away to the only mender he knew who could help: Brennan. Now, Violet is thoroughly ensconced in a revolution against not only Basgiath War College but also Navarre. When the party decides to return to Basgiath to avoid suspicion, she and Xaden must navigate struggles in their budding relationship, as well as distance when Xaden is stationed at a far outpost. All the while, Violet is working to help Xaden save his homeland of Tyrrendor while working to unlearn everything she was taught.
Why does this book beguile? Well, the wait was worth it. Iron Flame is the hotly anticipated follow-up in a five-book series that began with Fourth Wing. Iron Flame picks up immediately where the previous book ended and is a non-stop action-and-information-packed book. The revelations Yarros delivers at the end of the book will surprise (maybe shock!) you, and, of course, you’re left on a killer of a cliffhanger.
This is truly one of the best series I’ve read in a very long time. I cannot recommend it enough.
Rating: 5/5 - One of my top books of 2023
