Story Synopsis: Ellie found her person and fell in love in just once meeting. But that was over a year ago and she’s been hung up ever since. So, when her landlord shocks her with a drunken plan of an “engagement” to stave off questions from his family, she agrees.

When she and her “fiance” travel to the family cabin for Christmas, the woman from a year ago is there - and is her fake fiance’s sister. A few snow-bound shenanigans ensue and Ellie must determine how honest to be with her new “family” and with herself.

Why does this book beguile? This is a cute novel. It’s cozy, low-stakes, and comes with a happy ending. What more could you want from a holiday-themed novel? I love the demisexual representation noted in the book and the characters are all believable and charming.

Rating: 3/5
