Favorite Quote: Reader, I nearly fled. Cold iron holds no power over my kind, but we are quite repulsed by dull people.

Story Synopsis: In 1814, Maelys Mitchelmore is a young lady of society. One night, at a ball, she finds her gown disintegrating as she dances, causing her to run and hide in the garden, only to be discovered by suspected murderess, Georgiana Landrake, heir to the Duke of Annadale. As Maelys discovers she’s been cursed by a goddess after a potential suitor felt spurned, Georgiana and Maelys work together to lift the curse and steal moments together along the way.

Why does this book beguile? SUCH a fun book! I picked this up because of the cover and had no idea what it was about. Imagine my delight when one of my favorite characters from all of literature (Puck, from A Midsummer Night’s Dream) is our lovely narrator! Told with whimsy, brevity, and levity, Mortal Follies is a lighthearted sapphic romance.
