The Daevabad Trilogy by S.A. Chakraborty

I recently wrote about The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty after receiving the book as my Page 1 Book subscription. I immediately read The Kingdom of Copper and The Empire of Gold. The entire trilogy is SO GOOD.

There’s so much to love about these books.

  • Non Euro-centric setting and characters

  • Female main character + other characters of substance

  • Love as a subplot but doesn’t define the main character

  • What home and family means to a person

  • How to move forward when the odds are against you

The City of Brass is a beautiful novel and ends on a cliffhanger, which leads directly into The Kingdom of Copper. The Kingdom of Copper is a true “middle book,” but everything ties so neatly from The City of Brass that you don’t lose time in world-building. By the time you’re halfway through KoC, there are enough subplots and questions to know you must read The Empire of Gold. And, as expected, The Empire of Gold wraps up each storyline nicely.

I loved how Chakraborty wrapped up the different stories from the trilogy but left the world open to other characters, more stories, and more intrigue. I desperately want to read more about Daevabad and the surrounding kingdoms. I haven’t been this excited about a trilogy in a long time, but the Daevabad Trilogy ticks all the boxes. This is a must-read for readers of all ages!
