Story Synopsis: Bilbo Baggins leads a quiet, comfortable life in his home, Bag End. One day, Gandalf the Wizard shows up at his door, looking for some assistance and Bilbo unwittingly ends up on an adventure with twelve not-so-quiet dwarves.
Through treacherous terrain, avoiding trolls and goblins, the party must reach the Misty Mountains and the stronghold of Thorin Oakenshield’s family by a certain day so Thorin can reclaim his family’s treasure from Smaug the dragon.
Why does this book beguile? It’s The Hobbit!! This book is a classic for a reason. A bunch of unlikely allies working together to help one character achieve a destiny. There’s cheeky banter, adventure, and near misses. What’s not to love about this book? I’ve read and re-read this book quite a bit over the years, and it truly never disappoints. It’s an excellent novel for most ages and will delight you and keep you in suspense.
