Story Synopsis: This series follows the story of Alina Starkov, an orphan who unexpectedly learns she is one of the most powerful Grisha alive - a Sun Summoner. Ruin and Rising is the epic culmination of Alina Starkov’s story. She, and her small party of friends and followers, seek out the third magical animal which could be a potential amplifier of Grisha magic. After completing this mission, Alina and her party venture to the Fold for the last stand between the Darkling and the Sun Summoner where the fate of Ravka and the world are in her hands.
Likes: This series is wonderful! It’s an excellent fantasy series that has the right blend of coming-of-age, strategy, romance, and hope. It’s been on my TBR forever and I’m glad I finally read it. I watched the Netflix series long before I read the books and the show stays very faithful to the books for Season 1. While I do very much enjoy this series, Bardugo’s next books in the Grishaverse are even better.
