Minor Spoilers Ahead!

Story Synopsis: A Court of Frost and Starlight follows A Court of Wings and Ruin, and helps set the stage for the next series of events with our beloved characters. ACOFAS brings us a few months ahead from the battle of Wings and Ruin to the Winter Solstice preparations in Velaris. Nesta is being sullen and distant; Elain has settled in more to life in Velaris as a High Fae; Feyre, Rhys, and the Inner Circle are working through their new, tenuously peaceful reality. Feyre begins painting again, and all our characters are trying to find the perfect Solstice gift for each member of the family.

Why does this book beguile? A Court of Frost and Starlight is the “holiday episode” of the ACOTAR series. It’s short, clocking in at a brisk 232 pages, and there’s not a ton of action or movement in this book. However, unlike the reviews on Amazon or Goodreads, I think this book serves an important purpose. Frost and Starlight sets the foundation for A Court of Silver Flames, which follows Nesta, and serves to wrap up Rhys and Feyre’s story. Knowing Maas’ work, I’d bet there will be several more books in ACOTAR, and some seemingly innocuous information shared in Frost and Starlight will become critical later on in the series. Either way, it’s a short, happy, fun read after so much emotion in the prior three books.
