Story Synopsis: A Court of Wings and Ruin picks up immediately where A Court of Mist and Fury ends. Feyre is back at the Spring Court, having saved her mate and family from the King of Hybern’s clutches. Having pretended to fake her entire time at the Night Court, Feyre resumes her dainty, docile role in Tamlin’s home. However, she’s now a spy, working to see what information she can ascertain after Tamlin allied with the King of Hybern. On a scouting mission to the wall with representatives of Hybern’s court, Feyre and Lucien escape the Spring Court on foot because their magic has been depleted. A few harrowing encounters later, Lucien and Feyre are safely back in the Night Court.

Once returned to Velaris, Feyre checks on her newly-turned-Fae sisters, Nesta and Elain. Then, the Inner Circle begins working to find ways to neutralize the Cauldron, stop the wall from coming down, and coordinate an alliance with the other six High Lords of the realm as war approaches. Secrets are revealed, bargains are made, and Prythian finds itself in a brutal war to secure a better future.

Why does this book beguile? This book was an emotional roller coaster. Like the other books, A Court of Wings and Ruin is full of heart, romance, action, and humor. Each character grows in unique ways as they face their challenges leading up to a scary and uncertain battle with Hybern. I absolutely loved how it ended, which was simultaneously devastating and uplifting while also leaving the door open for future books.
