Favorite Quote: Whatever he says, whatever he does, you need to remember that you are a brilliant, amazing person. You bend over backwards to please that man, and if he doesn't appreciate you, if he doesn't realize how special you are, then you just have to do whatever you need to do to protect your heart.
Story Synopsis: Annie is a fully custom Stella-Bot built to please her owner, Doug. She cooks, cleans, but most importantly, she’s a Cuddle Bunny. Doug likes when she cooks barefoot and doesn’t like her to wear anything not feminine or flowy. Annie has the capacity to learn and she progresses very quickly. One day, she makes a very human mistake that disrupts the status quo of her relationship with Doug.
Desperate to please Doug (because, programming), Annie expends all available memory and usage to decoding his moods and keeping his displeasure toward her below a four out of ten. As Doug’s attitude toward Annie changes, Annie grows and evolves with her humanity.
Why does this book beguile? I LOVED THIS BOOK! Annie Bot is feminism and female empowerment cloaked in a novel. We’ve all known a Doug: someone who thinks he’s liberal and a feminist, only to hold remarkably antiquated ideals and beliefs about women, relationships, and gender roles. You are not surprised that Doug’s wife left him and he’s resorted to a custom sex robot. You will be surprised at how much Annie develops and matures as a result of her human experience.
