Favorite Quote: The world he thought he knew had become an odd thing, twisting time and purpose. But it had remained an unfair universe in the end.
Story Synopsis: Meredith “Merry” Chalmers grew up in late seventeenth-century Salem. When Merry was accused of witchcraft in 1692, she was chased by her community and ended up time-jumping to 2010. As she acclimates to 2010, Merry unravels a complicated web of love, family, and true witchcraft.
Why does this book beguile? I unexpectedly received this book through my mom, who is friends with the author - and lucky for me! This book is right up my alley: witches, time-travel, dark magic, OH MY! I am always excited to read books that are less well-known because there are some gems out there. This duology is delightful. I blew through the first book, The Timeless Ones, and very much enjoyed the second book, A Necessary Darkness. The time jumping and characters require a bit more attention, but the story is well-paced, fun, and action-packed.
Rating: 4/5 for both!
