Best Reads for the Summer

It’s summer, and it’s time for some delicious and easy books to read. Summer often means vacations and time away from responsibilities to relax. Whether you’re at the beach, in the mountains, or cozied up at home, the best summer reads are here.

The Daevabad Trilogy: A beautifully written fantasy series set in fictitious Daevabad, inspired by the Middle East and Middle Eastern lore. It’s got action, strong characters, LGBTQ representation, magic, and love. It’s quite an epic trilogy but reads quickly thanks to great characters and better writing.

The Bridgerton Series: Eight romance novels that inspired the hit Netflix series? Yes, please! You can’t go wrong with well-written romance.

Disrupted: My Misadventure in the Startup Bubble: If you want a non-fiction read, Disrupted is a hilarious quasi-memoir of a journalist’s time at a tech startup. Dan Lyons gets an authentic experience of what putting the cult in culture means while working at Hubspot.

Ninth House: The first of a series, Ninth House takes us to New Haven, CT, where Alex, who can see ghosts, investigates her friend’s disappearance and uncovers much more than she bargained for. She also must contend with her unsavory past and learn what acceptance and self-love mean.

The House in the Cerulean Sea: A warmhearted, uplifting standalone novel about love and chosen family. There’s a bit of magic, a lot of love, and a six-year-old Lucifer.

Six of Crows Duology: By the same author as Ninth House, the Six of Crows Duology is the same Grishaverse as Shadow & Bone but follows Kaz Brekker and his Crows in their heists and adventures. You’ll love this multi-point of view series!

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Series: A super fun series about quintessential girl-next-door Pip and her desire to prove a local girl’s murderer is still on the loose in her small town. It’s a well-written, PG-rated series with great twists and a solid wrap-up.

The Cormoran Strike Series: Written by Robert Galbraith (J.K. Rowling’s pseudonym), this adult crime-thriller series follows Cormoran Strike, a private detective in London, on his cases. While Rowling’s comments and beliefs might be controversial, her writing is still excellent, and this series keeps you hooked with twists and turns up to the very end. The next book in the series is out in late August 2022.
