Favorite Quote: Quicker and quicker danced the dust. The moonbeams seemed to quiver as they went by me into the mass of gloom beyond. More and more they gathered till they seemed to take dim phantom shapes. And then I started, broad awake and in full possession of my senses, and ran screaming from the place.
Story Synopsis: Jonathan Harker, a young lawyer, travels to Transylvania to help a mysterious count purchase an English estate. Despite the warnings from locals as he approaches the Count’s castle, Harker’s curiosity overcomes him until he is trapped with a supernatural being. Upon returning to England, Count Dracula’s presence becomes known and Harker is drawn in to this web even further when his friends and fiancee become embroiled in the vampire’s malevolent plan.
Why does this book beguile? Dracula is a classic, with many spinoffs and pop culture references, so I was excited to revisit this classic horror novel. The beginning was vivid and enthralling, and the end was action packed. I’m so happy to have read this classic novel and I’m still surprised at the ways the story has been altered throughout the years since its publication! Highly recommend!
