Favorite Quote: Discipline is like knowing the rules of a game; once you understand them, you can play freely and even win.

Synopsis: Jay Alderton was a feckless teen before joining the British Army and learning key principles to help find direction. Following his personal transformation, Alderton went on to coach others and help clients transform their lives to reach their goals, achieve success, and live happier, more fulfilling lives. This book culminates years of coaching and success to help people.

Why does this book beguile? Like many, I found Jay Alderton on social media and I really like his presence and how he approaches tips and life advice. Hard Stuff, Easy Life is exactly what you’d expect: succinct, tactical guidance to approach life. Does he go into great detail or use specific examples? No - and that’s what I loved about this book. Instead of trying to cover every potential reader’s experience, Alderton generalizes and encourages the reader to do the work of applying his principles to life. I thoroughly enjoyed how non-prescriptive his advice is and how he truly sticks to the overarching principles and mindsets to apply to life rather than give directives.
