Favorite Quote: People don’t need wild gods any more when they’re fat and rich and comfortable. Gods don’t take kindly to being forgotten.

Story Synopsis: As a child, Kissen and her family were meant to be a sacrifice to the gods, but her father saved her, leaving her orphaned and broken. As an adult, Kissen is a veiga - a godkiller - who hunts down new gods and destroys them at the behest of the King. When a wayward child, Inara, who has a deep bond with a new god, comes into Kissen’s life, she promises to help break the bond by taking them to the city of old gods, Blenraden. On the way, they meet a former knight, Elogast, who is on his own quest for his friend, the king.

When parallel paths intersect, Kissen, Elogast, and Inara all must choose what to do when the gods interfere with their plans.

Why does this book beguile? Godkiller, right from the jump, is interesting because of it’s length. At a brisk 289 pages, Godkiller might be one of the shortest fantasy books I’ve read. But let me tell you, it packs it in. Godkiller contains incredible world-building without extraneous descriptions or information-dumping on the reader. It’s short, but well done. More fantasy books should be like this!
