Story Synopsis: The Ink Black Heart is the sixth book in the Cormoran Strike detective series by Robert Galbraith (aka J.K. Rowling). The story begins immediately following the events of Troubled Blood with Strike and Robin having drinks at the Ritz. Despite a full client list and a waiting list, when two YouTube creators are attacked in London, the Strike Detective Agency has one more case they can’t turn away. Who is Anomie? What part do they play in the fandom of the two YouTube creators? And who’s the criminal?
Likes: I love this series. Galbraith does an exceptional job of capturing the characters' psyches and how the real outside world influences their daily decision-making. It’s so hard to talk about everything I liked about the book without spoilers! It has tension, curiosity, action, and a little bit of spice!
Comments: Clocking in at a whopping 1200+ pages, I worried (briefly) that the book would have dull or unnecessary parts. I had nothing to worry about! From the first chapter, I was compelled to keep reading. I love these types of slow-burn whodunnit books that keep you guessing. I considered the perpetrator as a suspect, but Galbraith continually threw me off the scent. It made for a great novel.
