Favorite Quote: And, once that’s done, winning the peace, as they say, will be much more problematic than winning the war.

Story Synopsis: I absolutely adored the Netflix show Half Bad: The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself. Despite Netflix making the utterly stupid decision to not renew the series for a second season, you should watch the show - it’s wonderful. When I learned Half Bad: The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself was based on a YA series by Sally Green, I wanted to read it.

Let me tell you, the three books: Half Bad, Half Wild, and Half Lost are very different from the show. The departure occurs about halfway through book one. The show and the books are good in their own rights but very, very, very different.

Why does this book beguile? This series is beguiling because it’s so unexpected. At no point did I know what would happen next (no exaggeration) and I was truly shocked by the ending of book three. Ultimately, the Half Bad series is about war - not good and evil, but warfare - and the effects war has on all those who are involved.

If nothing else, watch Half Bad: The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself on Netflix
