Favorite Quote: When you’re too busy to think about your life, you’re able to put off proactive decisions under the guise of responding to what seems urgent. You think you’re doing all the right things, but really you’re just keeping busy.

Synopsis: Instead of a traditional “be more productive” book, Chris Guillebeau looks at the ways our anxiety around time (running out or having too much) affects our ability to do the tasks at hand. As a member of the neurodivergent team, Guillebeau takes care to recognize not all brains work the same and the traditional tips and tricks don’t always work well for the ND crowd. He also details different ways we have time anxiety, from facing our mortality to feeling like there aren’t enough hours in a single day to accomplish our goals.

Why does this book beguile? I’ve been a big Chris Guillebeau fan for a while. I appreciate his approach to important topics (like entrepreneurship, making money, philanthropy, and now time). He usually includes helpful commentary from an ND perspective, personal anecdotes, and my favorite: crowd-sourced stories, opinions, and solutions. Instead of using his platform to make his voice louder, he amplifies the voices of his fan/customer base time and time again.
