Favorite Quote: Nobody wants to hear about what you like. There’s nothing less funny than hearing about the stuff you have fun doing. Fun isn’t funny. Comedy is pain. It’s struggle.

Synopsis: In a collection of essays and anecdotes, Seth Rogen chronicles his life and comedic experience in true Seth Rogen ways: candidly and shamelessly. From his childhood in Vancouver, BC to moving to LA, finding love, and finding drugs, Rogen discusses the things that made him laugh, made him uncomfortable, and ultimately gave society some of the most provocative and iconic movies.

Why does this book beguile? I didn’t know Seth Rogen had a book until I read Validation by Caroline Fleck, in which she referenced a Seth Rogen story. An unlikely pairing, but here we are. I tend to like Seth Rogen movies, and although he often portrays idiots on-screen, he’s insanely smart and observant. Yearbook was enjoyable and a fast read. There were funny stories, awkward/cringy stories, and heartwarming moments throughout. Rogen touches on some of the more controversial topics, such as his interview with Jack Dorsey and the controversy surrounding the movie The Interview.
