Favorite Quote: Oaks support more forms of life and more fascinating interactions than any other tree genus in North America.

Story Synopsis: The Nature of Oaks is a short and lovely book all about oak trees. The book is divided into months and each month, the author describes the visible and nearly invisible processes happening in, on, and around the oak tree.

Thoughts & Feelings: As a nature lover, I really enjoyed The Nature of Oaks. Tallamy’s writing is very approachable. He’s got the scientific background to back up his comments with well-cited sources, but the writing itself is casual and conversational. Tallamy goes into detail about not only the trees but the birds, bugs, and beasts that need oaks for optimal survival.
