Witches of Dubious Origins

Author: Jenn McKinlay

Genre: Cozy Fantasy

Publish Date: October 2025

Read: September 2025

Story Synopsis: Zoe Ziakas is quite content at her public library job in a New England small town. However, when a massive black book shows up on her desk with an un-openable latch, Zoe is sent to New York City by her aunt Agatha to get help. At the Museum of Literature, Zoe encounters an eccentric staff in the Books of Dubious Origins department and must discover the truth about her powers and heritage.

Why does this book beguile? This was a fun book to receive as an ARC from the publisher; however, it was not a favorite. There was a lot of action for a cozy fantasy, but not enough action, romance, or mystery to keep my attention.
